OurMission

We at Midwest Pediatric Dentistry enjoy creating a dental home that will lead to a lifetime of health and happiness. When a child enters our office, the expectation and experience are catered to each child as an individual. It is our mission as pediatric dentists to provide the best treatment available in a comfortable and caring environment. Your child deserves the best, and we know we can provide that for your family.

Why A Pediatric Dentist

When a child goes to the doctor, they see a pediatrician. When your child goes to the dentist, they can see a specialist too. Pediatric dentists specialize to work with children up until adolescence and receive two or more years of additional education. Pediatric dentists emphasize the establishment of trust and confidence in children with their dentists. They focus on development, prevention of oral diseases, child psychology, behavior guidance and all aspects of the highly specialized pediatric restorative techniques. Some, like Dr. Kim, Dr. Emily, and Dr. Kamath, also specialize in the care of special needs patients. This includes children with medical complexities as well as children with sensory integrative sensitivities.

Meet The Dentists

Dr. Kim has been practicing pediatric dentistry in the St. Louis area for about 30 years. When Dr. Emily was in high school, she expressed an interest in pediatric dentistry. Dr. Kim offered her a summer position as a dental assistant to get familiar with the profession. Dr. Emily assisted in his office throughout college. Dr. Kim remained Dr. Emily's mentor throughout her training in dental school and residency. After many years of schooling, Dr. Emily came back to the St. Louis area to work with Dr. Kim at Midwest Pediatric Dentistry as well as at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Dr. Kamath got married and joined her husband in St. Louis. She's been fighting sugar bugs in the area since 2015 and is excited to join us here at Midwest Pediatric Dentistry!

What our patients are saying!

Dr. Emily has been incredible and has worked with five of my children ages 4-13 years of age. She was so energetic and creative when my 4 year old needed a cavity filled that we didn't even need to give her laughing gas. Dr. Emily thought to play and sing Frozen songs to keep her entertained so the added sedative was not even needed. She also went above and beyond when my son was in a bike accident and had trauma to his permanent teeth. She collaborated with hospital staff and his orthodontist to create a comprehensive treatment plan for him. She is very professional, highly skilled, and very responsive and communicative! We are so happy to have her as our dentist for our children.

My daughter and I loved the upbeat personality of Dr. Emily Hahn. I would recommend her to any friends or family members with a possible anxious child. She allowed my daughter to feel calm and at ease in her office. I was allowed back for all treatment and was told everything that would be done. I'm happy we found a dental home that meets our needs!

WHAT IS A PEDIATRIC DENTIST & WHAT DO THEY DO?

A pediatric dentist is a dentist who specializes in treating children through adolescence. A pediatric dentist receives two or more years of advanced, specialized education after earning their DDS degree in dental school. A pediatric dentist focuses on pediatric and adolescent growth and development, disease and prevention, child psychology and management, and all aspects of the highly specialized pediatric restorative techniques.

Some, like our doctors, also specialize in the care of special needs patients, such as people with cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. Pediatric dentistry emphasizes the establishment of trust and confidence in children with their dentists. Consequently, one of the main components of pediatric training is child psychology. This manifests itself in special office designs, different communication styles and an emphasis on teaching preventive dental habits to children in an effort to make dental visits enjoyable.

To schedule a pediatric dental appointment with Dr. Kim, Dr. Emily, or Dr. Kamath for dental treatment, contact us today!  Our staff looks forward to working with you to provide you with the pediatric dental treatment that your child needs.
