Dr. Kim has been practicing pediatric dentistry in the St. Louis area for 30 years. When Dr. Emily was in high school, she expressed an interest in pediatric dentistry. Dr. Kim offered her a summer position as a dental assistant to get familiar with the profession. Dr. Emily assisted in his office throughout college. Dr. Kim remained Dr. Emily's mentor throughout her training in dental school and residency. After many years of schooling, Dr. Emily came back to the St. Louis area to work with Dr. Kim at Midwest Pediatric Dentistry as well as at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Dr. Kamath has now joined the team at Midwest Pediatric Dentistry, and has been practicing in the area since 2015!
Dr. Kim moved to St. Louis from California to attend dental school at Washington University School of Dental Medicine. There, he met his wife Maria. After dental school, he completed a residency program in Pediatric Dentistry and received a Master of Science degree in dentistry from The Ohio State University. After moving back to St. Louis, Dr. Kim taught at Washington University School of Dental Medicine until the school closed and opened his private practice.
Dr. Emily is originally from Troy, IL – just across the river. She attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI for both undergrad and dental school. She completed her pediatric dental residency in Yakima, WA. While in Washington, Dr. Emily completed a certificate in Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities. This program strives to create "a world in which all children with special health care needs will achieve their full potential." Along with Dr. Kim, Dr. Emily splits her time caring for patients at St. Louis Children's Hospital. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and American Dental Association. Dr. Emily is currently serving on the board for the Greater St. Louis Dental Society as well as a consultant for the Committee on Special Health Care Needs for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Kamath, or “Dr. K”, is our newest board-certified pediatric dentist! She was born and raised in New Jersey, graduated from New York University with a degree in Anthropology, and earned her dental degree from Columbia University in NYC. During her training, Dr. Kamath was engaged in community outreach, student government, advocacy, and mentorship. She went on to specialize in Pediatric Dentistry at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, where she was trained in a wide array of behavior management techniques to help ease every child into the dental office. Dr. Kamath is also fluent in Spanish and has volunteered her services on outreach trips to Honduras and Guatemala. When not in the office, she serves as Clinical Adjunct Faculty at A.T. Still University Missouri School of Dental and Oral Health, training 3rd and 4th year dental students in pediatric dentistry.
Meet the Staff
When calling our Hazelwood office, Jan is the kind voice you will often first hear. She is our office coordinator at the Hazelwood location. Jan has been working in the dental field for over twenty years and with Dr. Kim for fifteen years. When she isn’t keeping us organized, she can be found riding her bike, hiking, swimming or shopping.
Our office coordinator in Dardenne Prairie, Chico is no stranger to the dental field, as her father was a dentist. She ensures that families understand the treatment plans for every child. Chico enjoys seeing and knowing our patients are getting the best treatment. She enjoys gardening, reading, hiking with her dogs and spending time with her two grandchildren.
MEGAN, DENTAL ASSISTANT
Megan is one of our dental assistants and the team member that has been with our team the longest. She has been in the dental business for sixteen years and with Dr. Kim for fifteen years. Megan loves working with kids and watching them grow. On the weekends, Megan can be found boating on the lake or eating Mexican food.
LYNN, DENTAL ASSISTANT
Did you know that a crocodile cannot stick its tongue out? Lynn, one of our dental assistants, is full of fun dental facts. She did her dental assisting internship with Dr. Kim and has stayed with us ever since. Lynn is the first to admit that she wasn’t the best dental patient as a kid and enjoys making the dental experience much more pleasant than what she remembers.
BRITTANY, DENTAL ASSISTANT
Brittany is the newest member of our team. During her training, Brittany did her internship with Midwest Pediatric Dentistry, and we asked her to stay on. Brittany loves working with kids and making them feel comfortable. When Brittany isn't with us, she is often serving up pizzas at the Creve Couer Imo's. Kid lover and chef - we hit the jackpot!
